In a 23XI Racing/Toyota press conference Tuesday, Tyler Reddick was a surprise guest for a surprising cause. Denny Hamlin, one of 23XI’s co-owners along with Michael Jordan, and the team stated that Reddick will join the team in time for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season after he had signed on with them.
It’s a long-term deal, according to the team. Despite Reddick’s contract expiring at the end of the 2022 season, he will continue to compete for Richard Childress Racing until the end of the season and into the next year.
A five-year strategy with the ultimate objective of winning a championship is in place at 23XI, according to Hamlin and 23XI president Steve Lauletta, and they believe Reddick will help them achieve that goal.
Bubba Wallace or Kurt Busch.
No word yet on whether 23XI will have a third car or whether Reddick will replace one of its two existing drivers, Bubba Wallace or Kurt Busch. That’s one of the “unanswered questions” that Lauletta has at this moment. In the end, Hamlin said, “all we know is that we wanted [Reddick].
” Wallace and Busch will be part of the team for a long time, according to Lauletta and Hamlin. The 4th of July weekend at Road America in Wisconsin was a memorable one for Reddick, as he won his first career Cup race there. 23XI, on the other hand, stated he was “very interested in” and “liked what he’s seen” from the team.
Reddick’s Declaration that His Team Issued a Statement in Response.
However, Richard Childress Racing appears to be less than thrilled with the news. It wasn’t long after Reddick’s declaration that his team issued a statement in response. It’s preferable to do it now rather than wait till the playoffs, in my opinion. To put it another way, there’s no good reason to put it off. We know what’s ahead of us, so we’re prepared.
“We now know exactly what we’re up against and what we need to do to overcome it.” When Clint Bowyer signed for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2015, it was the first time a driver signed for another team more than a year in advance of joining the company.
Bowyer was a member of Michael Waltrip Racing at the time, but the team had stated that it would be shutting down at the end of the season. In 2016, before joining SHR, Bowyer raced for HScott Motorsports. When asked about his future with 23XI Racing and Toyota after winning his first Cup race earlier this month at Road America, Reddick replied he was “excited.”
What Is Announced?
This chance in 2024 excites me greatly,” Reddick said. “The squad is only a few years old, but it’s already making great strides. I can’t wait to share it with the world… To learn what the future holds for me and 23XI, I’m overjoyed to make this announcement. Steve Lauletta, president of 23XI Racing, stated that Reddick’s car for the 2024 season is yet to be decided.
To help Reddick find a sponsor, Hamlin said the team is looking into it. That is one of the numerous decisions the team will have to make before the start of the 2024 season, including whether or not to grow to three cars or stick with two vehicles. Even if anything is conceivable, Hamlin remarked on Tuesday that he does not “anticipate” having three cars in 2024.
Hamlin remarked, “All we know is that we wanted him.” In order to ensure Tyler got the opportunity to join this race team, we made sure our feet were firmly planted in the ground. “We’re happy to have Tyler in our future,” Toyota Racing Development president David Wilson said.

Who Is the Champion?
Reddick has won the Xfinity Series twice before. In 2018, he won the championship with JR Motorsports, and in 2019, he won it with RCR. For the second year in a row, Reddick has qualified for the playoffs with a win this season. After losing in the first round, he ended up in 13th place.
Bubba Wallace and Kurt Busch are the drivers for 23XI Racing. “No changes on our side for ’23,” Lauletta responded when asked if the contracts would last until then. ’24 and how we optimize the prospects of the corporation as a whole are at the center of our attention right now.”
