One of the provisions of a new set of regulations that will go into effect in the state of New Jersey this year in 2023 is to allow minors between the ages of 14 and 17 the choice of working long hours in order to earn more money.

“Expands working hours for minors; modifies the process for acquiring working papers for minors” is what the new law, (law A4222), says it would do.
This rule would allow youths in New Jersey who are 16 to 17 years old to work up to 50 hours per week during the summer vacation, which is an increase over the previous limit of 40 hours per week.
In addition, younger youths in the age range of 14 to 16 will be permitted to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer vacation in the state of New Jersey. This policy is analogous to the federal regulations governing the employment of minors.

It is important to note that under this rule, minors can only labor outside during the summer months when they are not in school. Therefore, it is not permissible to leave school in order to immediately begin working.
