Hackers Continually Attacked Bitcoin, Causing Its Creators and Owners to Lose a Large Amount of the Cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin (BTC) pioneer and core developer Luke Dashjr says that his private key was stolen on December 31. This resulted in his losing nearly all of his Bitcoin.

The developer tweeted on January 1 that his PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) key had been compromised. PGP is a standard security method that requires the usage of two keys to decrypt data.

There is Speculation That the Recent Btc Attack Was an Attempt to Avoid Paying Taxes.

He did not disclose the whole amount of Bitcoins stolen, but instead provided the address of a wallet to which some of the funds had been sent.

Dashjr said he had no idea how the attackers obtained his key, but numerous community members have drawn a connection to a tweet he posted on November 17 in which he said his server had been attacked with fresh malware/backdoors.

Still, others claim that it wasn’t a hack at all, but rather that the seed word was discovered by accident or lost at sea right before tax season.

The word “boating accident” is used here to refer to the common joke and meme about people trying to avoid paying taxes by claiming they lost all of their bitcoin in a fatal boating accident, which gained popularity among gun enthusiasts.

Security Breach Attempts Against Bitcoin

The hacker who stole W8 billion (US$1 = W1,265) in cryptocurrency from Nexon founder Kim Jung-Ju, who died in the United States in February, was sentenced to six years in prison.

In the summer of 2017, a group of hackers led by a 39-year-old guy named Jang stole Kim’s mobile SIM card and emptied his account of W8.5 billion worth of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies over the course of 10 days.

The bitcoin exchange Korbit reported suspicious activity to the police in June, four months after Kim’s murder. As a result, Jang was caught and charged with fraud in September.

A district court in Seoul sentenced him to six years in prison last month, but the decision was not reported in the news.

Even though Jang is suspected of stealing ten other SIM cards, it is still unclear whether he gained access to any additional bitcoin accounts at this time.
