Who Is Celeste: Performer and Songwriter John Lewis’ First Ever Original Song Was Recorded by The British Award-Winning Singer Celeste!

Celeste has been the first musician to develop and record an original song for the John Lewis Christmas advert, following her breakthrough last year. She hasn’t yet released her debut album and has already won a Brit Award and BBC Music’s Sound of 2020 for her British-Jamaican sound.

The retail company has commissioned Celeste to create a new track, titled A Little Love, to soundtrack their annual holiday advertisement, which this year celebrates acts of generosity during the Covid-19 outbreak. In light of the singer’s imminent rise to national notoriety, her current 89,000 Instagram followers will soon be joined by many more.

At age three, Celeste’s family moved to East London’s Dagenham, where she spent the rest of her childhood before settling in Saltdean near Brighton where she spent most of her youth. Her early influences included Aretha Franklin and Ella Fitzgerald, whose music was frequently heard in her family’s house.

she made the move from New York in 2017 but was dismissed from her job because she would come in late or not at all since she was working on her music. In December 2019, she was revealed as the winner of the Rising Star Award at the Brits, and a month later she was named the winner of BBC Music’s Sound of 2020.

Adele, Sam Smith, and Jorja Smith are just a handful of the musicians to have won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album and the Grammy for Best Song. At the time, she commented, “2019 was a great year for me and I could never have expected half of the things that transpired. Critics have praised Celeste despite the fact that she has yet to release an album, with some likening her voice to that of Amy Winehouse.

Her most well-known songs are Strange, Lately, and Father’s Son, and her self-titled first album, which has been delayed until January 2021, will be released in the meanwhile.
Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen, and Dan Smith of the band Bastille have all performed covers of well-known songs in recent years, while Sir Elton John sang his 1970 tune Your Song last year.

At this year’s event, Celeste said, “I felt really honored to have been asked to participate.

” Everybody was trying to get over the idea that “if you’re kind and kind, these little acts hopefully will ricochet and improve the world,” If you download “A Little Love,” 10 pence will be donated to a charity initiative. As part of the promotion again, Waitrose and John Lewis have teamed up.

At least £4 million will be raised for two charities: FareShare, which supports those in need with food; and Home-Start, which helps parents. Celeste, the up-and-coming British soul singer, and composer with a knack for evoking older decades is best discovered by asking about her songs.

Albums.

Her debut album, “Not Your Muse,” was released on Friday, and the first single, “Ideal Woman,” is a standout from it. When she sings, “Please don’t mistake me for somebody who cares,” she channels Billie Holiday’s velvety jazz sang-froid. Throughout her life, she has struggled with feelings of self-doubt in relationships.

When she was younger, she used to worry that she was too tall for guys to like because of her height, she admitted in a recent video interview. My mixed-race background may be to blame.” Or perhaps they dislike me because I’m so outspoken. I don’t know. My mum told me, “You’re just too gorgeous – they’re afraid.”
