The usage of fireworks on public assets such as beaches, parks, parkettes, and sports fields is prohibited, according to Toronto police. According to police, a number of resources will be stationed in the Woodbine Beach area on Victoria Day to guarantee public safety, both before and after the city’s official fireworks show.

“Fireworks are forbidden in City parks and on beaches, and violating this rule may result in penalties,” police stated. Only on Victoria Day and Canada Day is it legal to let off fireworks on private property without a permit. • Purchase pyrotechnics from a store that has a fireworks seller permit granted by the city.
  • Always read and follow the recommendations on the manufacturer’s label.
  • Fireworks and sparklers must be stored out of reach of youngsters, ideally in a closed closet or drawer, before being used.
  • Fireworks should be set off at a safe distance from flammable things like buildings and trees.
  • If portable firing bases are not available, pyrotechnics should be buried at least half their length in a pail of sand before being lit. Place the fireworks directly into the sand to ensure that they are well-supported and pointed away from the crowd.
  • Light the fireworks from a safe distance away, step back, and turn your head away. Do not try to relight a firework that has failed to ignite. Allow it to rest for 10 to 15 minutes in the base before soaking it in a pail of water.
  • The adult setting off the pyrotechnics must wear protective eyewear and avoid putting any portion of his or her body over the firework.
  • Never aim or hurl pyrotechnics at others.
  • Keep fireworks out of your pocket.
  • Fireworks should never be set off in metal or glass containers.
  • Never set off fireworks indoors.
  • If someone gets a burn, run cold water over it for a few minutes before seeking medical attention.
  • Sparklers should be doused with water or let to cool in a safe area away from youngsters playing to avoid an accident or injury. Sparkler ends remain hot for a long time and may easily burn a child’s skin, clothes, or any flammable material nearby.
  • Indoors, sparklers are not permitted.
  • Children are excellent spectators, but they should never be allowed to start fireworks. Adults are in charge of the fireworks, while onlookers stand back and observe from a safe distance.
  • The fireworks should be ignited by one authorized adult.
  • Hand-held fireworks must never be used.
  • Only one firework object should be lit at a time.
  • Always have a yard hose and a pail of water available to soak pyrotechnics after they have gone off.
  • Used fireworks should be completely wet before being discarded in the trash. Never put fireworks in the recycle bin.
