Steven Tyler’s Career

At a local rock event in 1969, Steven Tyler met his future bandmates, Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton. The trio decided to form a band, so they enlisted the help of two other musicians, and the Aerosmith was born in 1970. In 1972, Aerosmith got a record deal with Columbia Records, and their self-titled album was published in 1973.

The band, however, began to disband before the end of the 1970s decade. Tyler and Perry both had drug problems that put their careers in jeopardy. Tyler’s decline was accelerated by a motorcycle accident in 1980.

After being inactive for years, Aerosmith reassembled for a comeback concert tour, the ‘Back in the Saddle Tour,’ in 1984. All of the members chose to enter rehabilitation in 1986 after realizing that their drug addiction was endangering their jobs.

‘Pump,’ their next album, was released in 1989. The album was a huge hit, with three Billboard Hot 100 hits in the top ten. Incest, murder, drunkenness, and drug misuse were all topics covered in the songs.

Aerosmith kept busy touring, performing live shows, and releasing albums during the new century’s first decade. ‘Just Push Play (2001) and ‘Honkin’ on Bobo’ (2001) were two of their albums released throughout the decade (2004). ‘Music from Another Dimension is the band’s most recent album (2012).
