In the wake of the winter storm, rescue teams from Pennsylvania and New Jersey are making their way to Buffalo

In WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS): Crews from Pennsylvania and New Jersey are assisting with the cleanup in western New York after a significant winter storm.

Monday morning found the Task Force One Urban Search and Rescue team from New Jersey in Buffalo, New York.

Task Force One’s programme manager, Kevin Morrissey, claimed that the team has been partnering with law enforcement and the National Guard to perform door-to-door checks on the homes of the elderly and those with special needs.

We’re glad to be a part of their development, Morrissey said. We’ve been told, “A decent, resilient lot of folks up here, and many of them are out helping their neighbours, and they’re extremely appreciative of the efforts, and our troops are very modest to be here and be able to serve them.”

There are currently ten New York State Police officers patrolling the Buffalo area, and the New York State Police swore in five New Jersey State Police officers to assist them as part of Task Force One.

The state departments of transportation in Pennsylvania and New Jersey are sending scores of workers and tonnes of snow removal equipment to Buffalo.

In reference to Hurricane Sandy, Morrissey remarked, “If you look back in time, we had a lot of people come into our state to help.” When asked, “we just believe it’s our job to come up and aid, no matter where it is.”
