Additional Snap Benefits of $95 Per Household Will Be Made Available by December 28th, According to Governor Hochul.

New York State’s governor, Kathy Hochul, has announced that the state will receive 4 million in federal cash to expand food assistance for all SNAP participants in the state.

With this money, households in New York State who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will get at least in additional benefits this month.

SNAP is sponsored by the federal government and helps low-income New Yorkers buy food.

After the pandemic and now with rising grocery prices owing to global inflation, “these additional benefits have continued to help struggling New Yorkers keep themselves and their families fed,” Hochul added.

In a statement, the state of New York said, “The $234 million for SNAP will give help to New Yorkers in need throughout the holiday season and chilly winter months when household budgets are severely stretched.”
