The remains of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived back at his Tokyo residence on Saturday, a day after he was slain in a daylight shooting, which shocked and angered a nation that is not used to gun violence.
Akie Abe, his widow, returned to Tokyo with her husband’s body from Nara, in central Japan. As a result, Abe’s office confirmed to CNN that officials will meet with the family to discuss funeral plans.
Authorities said they found a slew of makeshift firearms manufactured from iron pipes in the home of a suspect who had admitted to the assassination just before Abe’s body was delivered.
