Ms. Wagner will be back on MSNBC. For the NBCUniversal-backed site, Wagner will serve as a senior political analyst and guest anchor. He formerly anchored a noontime hour on MSNBC but left as the network shifted its focus to covering breaking news during the day.

Her hiring comes as many major TV-news outlets prepare to cover the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, an event that could reverse the trend fall in viewing since early 2021.

Born in the United States on November 27th, 1977, journalist and author Alexandra Swe Wagner is a well-known figure in her field.

She wrote FutureFace: A Family Mystery, an Epic Quest, and the Secret to Belonging (One World/Random House) and co-hosted The Circus on Showtime.

She also works as a contributing editor at The Atlantic and as a contributor for CBS News.  In the past, she anchored MSNBC’s midday show Now with Alex Wagner from 2011 to 2015. She was a co-host of CBS This Morning: Saturday from November 2016 until March 2018. Since April of 2016, she has also served as a senior editor for The Atlantic.

Early Life.

Alex Wagner grew up right here in the nation’s capital. Tin Swe Thant’s mother is a naturalized American who was born in Yangon, Myanmar (Burma), and attended Swarthmore.  Her father, Carl Wagner, was a native of Lansing, Iowa, and he traced his roots to Luxembourg and Ireland.

He was a major figure in the Democratic Party and served as co-chair of Bill Clinton‘s presidential campaign. She studied art history and literature at Brown University and graduated in 1999 after attending Woodrow Wilson High School.  Wagner’s family was devout Catholic.

Career.

For the Center for American Progress, Wagner served as the organization’s cultural correspondent. She led The Fader, a magazine on global music and culture, as its editor from 2003 until 2007.

She also led the advocacy group Not On Our Watch Project, which focuses on ending mass crimes and human rights violations, as its executive director. Later, Wagner worked for Politics Daily, an AOL News-affiliated political news magazine, as a White House correspondent. After AOL bought the company, she left to work for The Huffington Post.

Personal Life.

Wagner tied the knot with Kass, a former White House nutrition policy advisor and assistant chef, at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, New York on August 30.

U.S. President Barack Obama and his family celebrated the marriage of Kass, who had been the Obamas’ personal chef in Chicago.  A son, Cyrus, was born to Wagner and Kass in 2017. She gave birth to their second child, a son named Rafael, on April 16th, 2019.
