Following much speculation, former Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Waka Flocka Flame stated earlier this month that he and his wife of eight years, Tammy Rivera, have decided to end their marriage. The couple has apparently parted ways peacefully.
During a recent visit on the It’s Tricky With Raquel Harper podcast, the Flockaveli rapper opened up about his breakup with Tammy Rivera for the first time, admitting they simply grew apart but remain on good terms. From Waka’s perspective, he doesn’t see why couples can’t break up without things having to get messy.

When asked about his relationship with the man, he replied, “That’s my best friend, that’s my dawg.” “People want it to be all kind of fighting and loathing – heck Nah, we have just grown! Like, why is it that when individuals evolve for the better, why does it gotta be something linked to it that’s slimy as split?
Disgustingly, some people will tell a beautiful woman, “You’re shining, girl. Fuck him!’ That or “Fuck her, Waka.” She ain’t shit!’ Why it gotta be so nasty when we ain’t nasty? It’s love, though. I and Tammy stamped.” Waka Flocka continued to lavish praise on his ex-wife, adding that he could never hate her because she gave him his daughter Charlie, now 16 years old, from a prior relationship. The Atlanta native feels raising Charlie made him a better man.

I received the privilege of bringing up another human being, a young woman no less, and experiencing firsthand the difficulties that modern women face. That shit is deep. When asked whether he and Rivera will make an effort to reconcile, Waka was less than helpful. Let’s start another question, he said, trying to deflect the inquiry. Tammy Rivera recently spoke up on Instagram Live about her recent breakup from Waka Flocka Flame, assuring fans that she and the “Hard In Da Paint” rapper are better able to co-parent now that they are living apart. She also said that season two of Waka & Tammy: What the Flocka will be filmed.

The woman, who used the handle Innocent MIA on Instagram, contacted Tammy and threatened to disclose their sex tape unless Waka stopped slandering her online. Those comments were removed from a post by the Love & Hip Hop star, but it’s still a red flag. And just weeks before their May 2014 wedding, an additional unnamed lady posted a photo of Waka lying next to her after the two apparently shared a bedroom the night before.
