After a nightclub shooting in Florida on July 2nd, 2006, police accused Plies of illegal possession of a concealed firearm. Members of Plies’ group are facing attempted murder charges after the gunfire that left five people injured. After Plies’ microphone was turned off due to the length of his performance, the shooting began. The promoter claims that Plies grew irate, shouted, started a fight, and then shot many times.

Plies was detained by authorities in Wesley Chapel, Florida, in 2017 for impaired driving. Plies was arrested after he declined to undergo a roadside breathalyzer test.
