Jonathan Scott Net Worth: Why Is Jonathan Called Silver Scott?

The brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott has been recognized by virtually everyone in the United States for the past ten years due to the popularity of the HGTV series Property Brothers and its various spin-offs, including Buying and Selling, Brother vs. Brother, Property Brothers: At Home, and Brothers Take New Orleans.

We believe that these twins, who were born in Canada, are living fairly comfortably because they have so many hits under their belts and have been successful in so many other business endeavors.

In the next piece, we take a look behind the scenes at the incredible wealth of these two TV and real estate personalities.

Jonathan Scott’s Childhood

Jonathan Ian and Andrew (Drew) Alfred Scott, identical twins, were born on April 28, 1979, in Vancouver, British Columbia. When Jim and Joanne Scott welcomed their second son, John, into the world barely four minutes before Drew, they had no idea they were expecting more than one kid.

Their father immigrated to the United States from Scotland as a child with the ambition of becoming an American cowboy like the ones he had seen on television. In the late 1970s, he left his profession in the film industry to raise his family.

Jim and Joanne’s family settled on a horse farm in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada.

When they were just seven years old, the brothers founded JAM, a company that made nylon-covered hangers. They sold them door-to-door until a woman ordered hundreds of them.

The lads continued their job search until they came upon an advertisement for young clowns to perform in parades. They earned $100 per hour performing as clowns in parades.

When their father hired John and Drew to build and repair fences, decks, and barns, they were just 8 years old. Throughout their childhood, their father’s work remained a part of their lives.

When the brothers were just 14 years old, the family began construction on their parents’ dream home in Alberta, Canada.

After graduating from Thomas Haney High School, the two brothers moved to Calgary to attend the University of Calgary, where they both received honors degrees.

Jonathan Scott’s Career

Drew and Jonathan began investing in real estate and making repairs while still in high school. To escape being labeled as “starving artists,” the two set out to become entertainers.

They reasoned that investing in real estate early would provide a safety net for their longer-term objectives. At the age of 18, they bought their first home as a freshman in college.

They took up a vendor take-back mortgage for their $250 down payment on a seven-bedroom property across the street from their institution. When the brothers finished the repairs, they rented it out and made $800 per month in rent.

They sold it for $50,000 profit after a year while still in school. They continued to buy and sell residences into their late adolescent years.

Before settling on real estate as a career path, the brothers dabbled in acting and magic. John dropped out of college in his early twenties and began creating large-scale illusions with the idea of starting a touring stage show.

One of John’s acquaintances approached him, and for a little charge, John agreed to let him use some of his illusions. The man eventually grabbed the entire exhibit, ruining the concert and leaving Jonathan $80,000 in debt.

Drew, for one, was a WestJet flight attendant at the time. John returned to Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to obtain a degree in building and design.

During this time, he earned his general contractor’s license. Meanwhile, Drew got his real estate license in 2004.

Personal Life of Jonathan Scott

John married Kelsy Ully, a WestJet crew scheduler, in the summer of 2007. As he explains in his book, her modeling, and waitressing employment caused a slew of issues for the pair once they relocated to Las Vegas.

They had been married for seven years until splitting up in 2010. Jacinta Kuznetsov and I split up in April of last year after a three-year romance.

Jonathan and Zooey Deschanel started dating in August of this year and declared their romance just a week after Zooey announced her divorce. They met while filming a Carpool Karaoke episode.
