Six New Jersey counties—Mercer, Hunterdon, Warren, Passaic, Bergen, and Hudson—have “low” community transmission, according to the CDC. The state’s 15 other counties have “medium” community transmission.

The 9.2 million-person state has reported 35,093 COVID-19 deaths, 31,977 verified and 3,116 probable.

As of Thursday, New Jersey ranks 10th in coronavirus deaths per capita, behind Mississippi, Arizona, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Michigan.

Vaccinations

7.1 million New Jersey residents, workers, and students are completely immunized. Since Dec. 15, 2020, eight million people have received their first immunization in the state.

4.3 million state residents have received boosters.

At least 9,833 of the state’s COVID-19 deaths have occurred among residents and staff members at nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, according to the most recent state data.
