Maria Sakkari, a top Greek tennis player, sought to deny reports that she is secretly dating Stefanos Tsitsipas on Monday, saying only, “one never knows what the future would bring.”
The two tennis stars have been admired by Greeks and non-Greeks alike as the sportsmen continue to improve, firmly establishing Greece on the international tennis map.
Sakkari revealed in a rare interview with Antenna TV that their friendship is based on a mutual appreciation for their tennis abilities.
The fact that two of Greece’s finest players are in the semi-finals of the French Open 2021 is a source of great joy for the country. While Stefanos Tsitsipas has been giving the ATP players a run for their money in Paris, Maria Sakkari overcame the reigning champion, Iga Swiatek, to advance to the semi-finals.
Off the court, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari are excellent friends who even share photos of each other on Instagram. There were even speculations that the two had dated at one point in the past. This, however, is not the case.

Theodora Petalas is a junior strategist at a branding and marketing business in London. She was born in Greece. She studied at New York University in the United States before relocating to the United Kingdom.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in arts and a master’s degree in science with a focus on project management and technology. Tsitsipas announced in 2021 that he and Petalas had been dating for two years. They are said to have met in New York via family friends.
