DC – WASHINGTON One suspect in a string of New Year’s Eve armed robberies in northwest Washington, DC, has been captured.
Several armed suspects reportedly approached a group of persons in the 1600 block of 7th Street at around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and robbed them before escaping in a car, according to the police. Around 9:15 p.m., police said, the same armed gang allegedly robbed another group of persons in the 1200 block of U Street.

U Street robbery victims said a 22-year-old Baltimore man, identified as Khalil Kwame Turner, shot a firearm after seeing the suspects’ vehicle flee the area.
Officers who arrived on the scene detained Turner, who is now being charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, unauthorized discharge of a handgun, and carrying a pistol without a license.
Shortly after, a man went to a nearby hospital, allegedly to receive treatment for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

The man, Ronald Linwood Crews, 18, of Washington, DC, has been recognized by detectives as a suspect in two separate armed robberies. Two counts of armed robbery have been filed against Crews.
Images of a vehicle and possible additional suspects have been published by police, who claim they are still investigating the cases.
