Willie Nelson Early Life
On April 29, 1933, Willie Hugh Nelson was born in Abbott, Texas. He is the son of Myrle and Ira Nelson. His cousin Mildred, who also gave him the middle name Hugh in honor of her younger brother, who had passed away not long before Willie was born, gave him the name Willie.

Willie Nelson’s parents moved to Texas from Arkansas in 1929 in search of employment. His father was a mechanic, while his grandfather was a blacksmith. His mother left the household soon after he was born.
