Washington State is Defeated by No. 6 Arizona 63-58 to Even the Series

No. 6 Arizona defeated Washington State 63-58 on Thursday night thanks to Azuolas Tubelis’ 18 points and 12 rebounds. Being the most in the Pac-12, it was his ninth double-double of the year.

The Wildcats and Cougars split the season series with Kerr Kriisa’s 15 additional points for the Wildcats (18-3, 7-3 Pac-12) (9-13. 4-7).

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd stated, “They were a handful, so getting a road win here is incredibly big.” “Matchups are what determine how some games end up playing out. Because of this, I was really proud of our guys for getting off to a strong start and then just sort of hanging with it.”

By defeating the Wildcats 74-61 in Tucson this month, Washington State defeated a Top 5 team away for the first time. In their largest victory under Kyle Smith’s leadership, the Cougars snapped Arizona’s 28-game home-winning run.

The Washington State Huskies were led by Justin Powell and Mouhamed Gueye, who each scored 15 points. With only four 3-pointers made, the Cougars shot 19 of 58.

Arizona opened a double-digit lead midway through the second half after breaking out of a scoring drought by scoring on five straight possessions. A poor shooting night and 16 turnovers are overcome by the Wildcats.
