This Fool has yet to receive a second season renewal from Hulu, or if it has been permanently cancelled. With Netflix restructuring their entire business and HBO Max offloading content, the streaming landscape is currently in flux.
A show needs to be extremely successful both critically and commercially if it is to survive in the current environment. I just don’t see This Fool attracting a crowd or winning praise from critics. If it were renewed, I would be very surprised.
Julio and Maggie part ways (again) at the end of the first season, and Julio moves in with his cousin Luis. With the help of a job and his apartment, Luis was able to turn his life around, but there is a catch. In reality, Luis is residing in the garage next to Julio’s mother’s home.
The main cast members experienced numerous mental breakthroughs, but they consistently reverted to their old behaviors. A second season would undoubtedly address these problems and hopefully include some much-needed character development.
