Although Justin Roiland is most recognized for creating “Rick and Morty,” his previous works should not be overlooked. “Solar Opposites” has found its kind of success on Hulu, despite not having caused McDonald’s to resurrect a long-defunct dipping sauce or produced a constant stream of pickle-themed jokes.
Even as the second season of the animated comedy series concluded in March 2021, it was clear that Roiland and his colleagues were not finished with the series. Thankfully, Hulu has confirmed that “Solar Opposites” will be making a triumphant return shortly.
While the streaming service hasn’t released anything about the plot and cast of Season 3 of “Solar Opposites,” the official Twitter feed for the program has confirmed its eventual return date. In other words, even though Season 3 of “Solar Opposites” is still deeply veiled in mystery, fans may be confident that it will release sooner than they might expect. Until then, all that can be done is examine Season 2 of “Solar Opposites” for signs about what may transpire in forthcoming episodes.
When Will the Third Season of Solar Opposites Be Released?
By the time “Solar Opposites”‘ second season ended, viewers generally assumed it would return for a third. In the “Solar Opposites” Season 2 conclusion, when all of the main characters in the show turn into trees, Korvo (Justin Roiland) virtually states as much. However, until Hulu makes a formal announcement on the show’s future, nothing about it is ultimately confirmed. Fortunately, that day did occur.
The much-anticipated third season of the sitcom was officially confirmed and given a premiere date on May 16 by the “Solar Opposites” Twitter page. The video only depicts the now-blue Pupa (Sagan McMahan) snooping around suspiciously in front of The Wall, but it claims that the third season of “Solar Opposites” will debut on Hulu on July 13 that day. As if that weren’t thrilling enough, Hulu has confirmed that the complete third season of the program will debut on July 13; therefore, viewers won’t have to wait a few weeks to experience the entirety of the plot of “Solar Opposites” Season 3.

Additionally, this time, fans will receive even more of their favorite things. The third season of “Solar Opposites,” which will have 12 episodes, will be four episodes longer than the first two, each of which had only eight episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The plot of the Third Season of Solar Opposites
As of this writing, Hulu has only announced that the third season of “Solar Opposites” will follow the aliens as they attempt to “be less of a team and more of a family team” (via Collider). That doesn’t necessarily give away much about “Solar Opposites” Season 3, but it does indicate that the following episodes will be mainly focused on the main characters as they work to deepen their ties with one another.
Thankfully, Season 2 of “Solar Opposites” also provides fans with some fairly exciting developments involving their favorite Schlorpian family. Viewers are finally shown the beginning stages of the Pupa’s terraformation process in the Season 2 finale, and the episode reveals that Schlorpians reincarnate as trees when they die. By the time of the “Very Solar Holiday Opposites Special,” however, the Schlorpians have reverted to their normal appearances.

Taking this into account, even if the Pupa is now one step closer to terraforming Earth into a new Planet Schlorp, Season 3 of “Solar Opposites” should still provide the show’s main characters with ample opportunity to embark on even more absurd adventures. In addition, the season should give the inhabitants of The Wall more time to engage in their bitter rivalries. Fans will likely tune in to Season 3 of “Solar Opposites” in the hopes that it will continue to explore Cherie (Christina Hendricks) and Halk’s (Sterling K. Brown) plot to overthrow Tim (Andy Daly).
Who Stars in Season 3 of Solar Opposites?
In the third season, many of the core cast members of “Solar Opposites” are expected to return. Given that the Schlorpians are still alive and well, it is unlikely that any of them will be absent from the upcoming season of the show. Therefore, Season 3 of “Solar Opposites” will likely feature the return of Korvo (Justin Roiland), Terry (Thomas Middleditch), Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone), and Jessie (Mary Mack).
Characters from The Wall can be compared to each other in many ways. There is no reason to think that Tim (Andy Daly), Cherie (Christina Hendricks), and Halk (Sterling K. Brown), who are all still alive and at the center of the escalating drama on The Wall, won’t make an appearance in “Solar Opposites” Season 3 in some capacity.
That so, Giambrone’s Yumyulack has continued to shrink unfortunate humans on a whim, so every season of “Solar Opposites” has thus far introduced fresh faces to The Wall. In light of this, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see the Wall ensemble of the show expand throughout “Solar Opposites” Season 3.
Is There a Trailer for Solar Opposites Season 3?
Hulu released a full-length promo for “Solar Opposites” Season 3 in late June. The teaser, which runs just a little over 2 minutes long, doesn’t reveal any concrete plot elements regarding the show’s upcoming season so much as it teases many of the ludicrous situations that “Solar Opposites” fans may look forward to seeing play out when the series returns.
For example, at one point in the teaser, Terry (Thomas Middleditch) boasts that the show’s characters are traveling to an amusement park called “HuluLand.” In the meantime, another sequence in the teaser depicts Terry, Korvo (Justin Roiland), and the rest of their group performing a TikTok-inspired dance.
In other words, while fans will have to wait until the July 13 premiere of Season 3 of “Solar Opposites” to learn the specifics of the wacky adventures that lie in store for the show’s upcoming episodes, this brief trailer makes it undeniably clear that things are only going to get sillier and stranger in the episodes to come. Depending on your opinion of the first two seasons of “Solar Opposites,” this will either be extremely good or extremely bad news.
In any case, it is evident that “Solar Opposites” is aware of the types of stories it wishes to tell.
Is Season 3 of Solar Opposites Available Anywhere Except Hulu?
No, the only way to view all available Solar Opposites episodes is with a Hulu subscription. Two subscription plans are sufficient to obtain Hulu, the first being the cheapest at $6.99 per month for the regular bundle with advertisements. You may upgrade to the ad-free membership plan for $12.99 per month if you’d rather not see advertising (especially for episodes that are shorter than half an hour each), which also allows you to download and watch Hulu content without an internet connection.
Both programs include a thirty-day free trial, so you can evaluate the service for a month before committing. However, Season 1 of the series is available on Prime Video for purchase.

If you are planning to subscribe to Hulu but do not yet have it, and if you enjoy sporting events and Disney content, there is an additional option. Similar to the usual Hulu packages, a bundle plan comprising Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ is available, with the cheapest option with advertisements costing $13.99 per month and the option without advertisements costing $19.99 per month.
This represents a savings of around $8 per month for two more premium services, making this an excellent deal for three premium services. A cable bundle with the three streamers is also available for $69.99 per month, providing access to live television in addition to streaming content.
