The Hit-And-Run Driver Who Killed “gone Girl” Star Lisa Banes in New York City Has Been Convicted

On Wednesday, a Manhattan judge sentenced the unlicensed moped driver who murdered “Gone Girl” actress Lisa Banes in a hit-and-run last year to up to three years in jail. Banes’s widow called the man “a risk to anyone in New York City.”

In September, Brian Boyd, 27, who had pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter in the case, was given a sentence of one to three years in prison for his role in the June 4, 2021 crash that killed the well-known actress, who was 65 at the time.

Banes’s wife, Kathryn Kranhold, testified that Boyd poses a threat to everyone in New York City. “Whoever has the right of way when crossing the roadway.” When Banes passed away after a 10-day coma, she claimed, “my life halted.”

When the actress was struck near West 64th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, she was on her way to meet her wife for supper on the Upper West Side.

According to Kranhold’s testimony at Manhattan Supreme Court, “When she didn’t show up for supper at 6:30 I waited a few minutes.” I was reassured that she was alright by my buddies.

When I escaped their flat, I made a beeline for Broadway. When it hit me, I panicked. I decided to give her a call. “I texted her,” she said. She was taken into an ambulance, and I didn’t find out about it until I was already a block away.

Authorities claim that Boyd, who was operating a moped without a licence or registration, got back on his bike and rode away.

“Lisa was bleeding from the head and he was more concerned with his bike,” Kranhold added.

We know he did not turn himself in because…” Lisa anticipated his arrival but was unable to avoid his assault because “no one can move that fast.”

Two months after the deadly occurrence, Boyd was caught and accused with his involvement. On Wednesday, he said in court that he had been trying to slow down prior to the crash. Justiciar Gregory Carro heard him say, “I did beep my horn.” “I slowed down.”

The judge, however, was not convinced. Saying, “Hey, you know what? “I’ll give you your pleading right back,” Carro huffed. “So, you want to go to trial, huh?” It seemed as though Boyd was trying to tell us something.

Erin LaFarge, an assistant district attorney in Manhattan, said of the defendant, “He has not learnt anything from this experience.” As the saying goes, “That is a scary idea.

“Lisa Banes was a cherished friend, family member, and community member whose life was sadly cut short,” Bragg added. It is my earnest wish that her loved ones are able to heal and move on from this tragedy, and I know that New York City continues to mourn her loss with them.

While Banes did feature in the 1998 Ton Cruise film “Cocktail,” she is best recognised for her portrayal with Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in “Gone Girl.” She had performed on Broadway and had studied at New York’s prestigious Juilliard School.
