On Friday, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin revealed that the man wanted for the attempted murder of a New Jersey State Police trooper had been apprehended by US Marshals in South Carolina.Street and 9th Avenue shows Jocquice Ray Timmons, 28, “stepping out from behind a parked vehicle, assuming a shooting stance, and opening fire” on two troopers. Platkin said on March 2nd.
The attorney general made the announcement during a press conference at the NJSP’s Troop D station in Newark, saying that unmarked cars were following a vehicle linked to an attempted burglary in the same area hours earlier.
He said that gunfire had struck both vehicles, and that one of the troopers had been shot in the leg.

The injured soldier used a tourniquet from his equipment bag to stabilise his leg before being transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center.
“Mr. Timmons did not succeed in his attempted murder of these troopers,” Platkin said, “but it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying.”
The attorney general has stated that Timmons, a suspect in the break-in, was the only shooter.
He noticed that the soldiers didn’t fire back.
Platkin further explained that Williams’s 10mm Glock was located.
According to his criminal record, Timmons has been arrested numerous times, primarily for drug-related offences. After his extradition to New Jersey, he will face formal charges for two counts of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and weapons violations.

Platkin told reporters that the incident was a “chilling reminder” of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day. “One of our own fell victim to the very crime he was working to prevent,” he added.
The attorney general reported that the injured trooper was “in great spirits” and would be discharged from St. Joe’s on Friday.
He stated that he was not being named due to safety concerns.
The trooper and his family have Platkin’s “unending gratitude” for his service and sacrifice, and he expects the soldier to make a full recovery.
Additionally, the attorney general emphasised that “a very active and ongoing investigation” was still being conducted.
