In November 2019, there were speculations circulating that a sequel had been officially greenlit, but such reports were immediately dispelled by the relevant parties. After then, in May of 2021, it became apparent that the subsequent instalment will be produced.
In June of 2022, writer and director Todd Phillips said that he and co-writer Scott Silver had completed writing the script for their upcoming film, and he also revealed the film’s title (actually, it looks like the hand was completed back in May). So, what do we know about the book that will come out next?
Joker 2 Title
“Shared psychosis” is literally translated from French as “folie à deux.” It refers to “a mental disorder or hallucination that is shared by two persons who are close to one another.” This type of mental disease is also sometimes referred to in English as “shared psychosis.”
We can deduce from the movie’s title that it will focus on Arthur Fleck’s shattered mental state once more. It is also possible that this will signify the appearance of a second main character in the role of a natural person with whom Joker will discuss his ideas.

The fact that Joker perpetuated damaging preconceptions about mental illness is something we take issue with, but all we can do is hope that the sequel will be more successful.
Release Date of Joker 2
No idea! We do not know when the film will be released, despite the fact that the script has been completed, because the film has not yet been produced.
A large number of DC Comics-based films are scheduled for release over the next few months by Warner Bros., among them are Black Adam in October, Aquaman 2, The Flash, and Shazam! In 2023, the entirety of Fury of the Gods will be made available to the public.
We do not believe that a potential sequel would need to take place in the same general time period as the original film, which means that it may be released at any point in the past or future.
Cast of Joker 2
Joaquin Phoenix is set to reprise his role as Arthur Fleck, better known by his stage name, the Joker. On Instagram, Phillips shared a photograph that he had taken of Phoenix reading the screenplay.
As a result of his performance, he was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor, thus it should come as no surprise that Warner Bros. would like to strike it rich once more.
There aren’t that many additional characters that could potentially return for a second installment, although Arthur’s next-door neighbor Sophie, who was portrayed by Zazie Beetz, could always return. Phillips has stated that Joker did not end her life, despite the fact that the movie left it unclear what happened to her.

Beetz didn’t appear to have much enthusiasm for a Joker sequel scheduled for February 2020, but she did indicate that she was open to the idea if Phillips were to reprise his role, which it appears he will be doing.
We can only think of two persons who possibly return at this time: Douglas Hodge, who played Alfred Pennyworth, and Dante Pereira-Olson, who played Bruce Wayne. Neither one of them has been seen or heard from recently. But if they went on that path, Joker versus Batman, would Phillips be interested in that?

Willem Dafoe playing another Joker alongside Joaquin Phoenix would be fine with us if he made the move from Marvel to DC and performed the role. The title is also something that would fit very nicely with it.

“The possibility that anybody was acting as the Joker is intriguing for a number of reasons. Therefore, instead of two people claiming to be the Joker and fighting each other, there may be one person who falsely claims to be the Joker. He made a guess. Folie à Deux, did you say?
Plot of Joker 2
Other than what we may infer from the title, we don’t know anything about the plot (which we mentioned above). Arthur had a complete transformation into the titular character towards the conclusion of the first Joker film.
He may be seen dancing down a hospital hallway in the final frame of the film, leaving red footprints in his wake (presumably having killed the doctor examining him). Arthur is imprisoned in Arkham State Hospital in the preceding scene. After the disturbances in Gotham City were calmed down, he was undoubtedly detained by the police.
In the Worlds of DC, Joker was rumoured to be creating a new “label” for films that didn’t take place in the main timeline but offered unique interpretations of its well-known characters without having to worry about consistency. This seems to be the case with the most recent Batman film.
Who Arthur’s adversary will be is the other important topic for the second Joker movie. The Joker was essentially his worst antagonist in the first film. The main theme of the movie was how he transformed from a largely typical person to an outright murderer. What then should we do? What lies next for the Joker?
Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker 2 Paycheck Information
We all made fun of the fact that it would take a “dump truck full of cash” to entice a “actor’s actor” like Joaquin Phoenix to reprise his role as the Joker, but is that really what he delivered to Todd Phillips’ follow-up? A recent article claims to have information on how much Phoenix would be paid for Joker 2. According to the rumour, Joaquin Phoenix will soon earn $20 million for the second Joker film as opposed to just $4.5 million for the first.
Joaquin Phoenix’s $20 million salary for Joker 2 had to be noted in a Variety article about Hollywood actors who are earning a lot of money from their movies:
Joaquin Phoenix is similarly unflappable. Phoenix will cost Warner Bros. $20 million if they want him to return as a clown. Phoenix earned $4.5 million for his role as the Joker in the 2019 film “Joker,” which was his debut appearance in the role. The lead actor who portrayed the lead role received an Oscar, and the film made over $1 billion worldwide.
Despite the fact that the pay seems high, it makes sense for Joaquin Phoenix to demand that much for Joker 2. Additionally, it is consistent with claims that discussions for the sequel have been taking place in secret.
