On April 12, Hudson County was struck by two major fires that tore through homes in Weehawken and Union City. These flames were among the largest in the county.
At 10:45 p.m., a house fire that quickly escalated to a four-alarm blaze broke out in the town of Weehawken.
The blaze, which originated in one of the houses on Jane Street, quickly spread to the other two houses on the street.
The North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue Department was the first to arrive on the scene, and the Bayonne Fire Department provided assistance. There were no reports of any injuries.
According to the Red Cross of New Jersey, a three-alarm fire completely destroyed a multi-family home on 8th Street in Union City, leaving 20 people without homes as a result. There were no reports of any injuries.
