The Koreatown community is mourning the loss of a humorous, bright young man who, at 17, was shot and killed during an attempted robbery.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the incident occurred on 7th Street between Berendo Street and New Hampshire Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Dylan Ramirez, a resident of Los Angeles, has been named as the victim.
Alejandro Castro, the victim’s brother, said, “He still had a lot of life left and a lot of plans.”
After graduating high school, Dylan reportedly showed interest in working as an electrician. Castro claims he was the de facto father figure to his brother while they were growing up because their father was never around.
‘I wish I had been more patient with him and kind of listened to him more,’ Castro said to the news crew. “He was a fairly hilarious guy. I’d rather be his brother than his father.”
Dylan and his companion were in the car when the shooting occurred. The police report that another man armed with a gun approached them.
At that point, the thief tried to rob them. The culprit shot the 17-year-old passenger in the head when they refused to give him their possessions.

In the Pico-Union area on West Olympic Boulevard, the driver fled and then hailed down police. He was on his way to the hospital to drop off Dylan when he was killed.
Despite police efforts to revive the teenager, he was ruled dead at the site.

The criminal is still on the loose. There was no summary to be found.
The funeral costs for Dylan have prompted his family to create a GoFundMe campaign.
