They said that a call regarding the incident was received at approximately 4:15 in the morning. After three tumultuous hours, everything was finally brought under control just before 7 in the morning.

At the very least, two people had minor injuries; one of them was a responding firefighter, and the other was a resident of one of the residences.
Chief Keith Weaver of the Bayonne Fire Department stated that workers were “forced out” during their initial attack on the flames as a result of the intense fire conditions.
According to him, “it progressed to a defensive operation using massive streams,” and this is what happened next.
According to Junior Ferrante, who serves as the coordinator of Bayonne’s Office of Emergency Management, the recent weather conditions have not been helpful.
“The conditions are extremely dry, and there’s very low humidity – there have been brushing fire warnings going out, and even on a house fire, most of these homes are wood frame construction, so they get a little spark, and they get a little fire, and they just take off,” he said.
