Lottery authorities have announced that the $476 million Mega Millions jackpot winning ticket was purchased from a convenience store in the New York City borough of Queens on Friday night.
The almost $500 million prize is the largest ever won in April since Mega Millions began in 2002, and the thirteenth richest in the game’s history overall.
The winning ticket was purchased from Liberty Beer and Convenience in Ozone Park, and it was the only one to match all six numbers (23, 27, 41, 48, 51, and Mega Ball 22) from Friday night’s drawing.
The last jackpot winner occurred on January 31 when a $31 million prize was given to lucky lottery players in Massachusetts.
The drawing on April 14 also yielded two $1-million winners (who matched all five white balls) and twenty-one winners of $10,000 or $20,000.
