Derrick White is a professional basketball player from the United States. He is primarily a shooting guard for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. He is, nevertheless, highly effective at the point guard position.
In 2017, White made his professional league debut with the San Antonio Spurs. Even though he struggled in the early seasons, he has improved in recent seasons.

Derrick White was born on July 2, 1994, to Richard (father) and Colleen White (mother). In his family, he has an older sister named Brianna White.
Derrick was born and raised in Parker, Colorado, and went to the local school there. He came from a low-income home, and both of his parents struggled to make ends meet.
Since he was a child, White has been polite and playful. Because both of his parents were active in athletics as children, he became involved in extracurricular activities as well.
Richard, his father, was a basketball player in high school. He was a big fan of the Boston Celtics and fantasized about playing in the NBA. His dream, however, was never realized.

While Mason used to host camps, White would show up daily and begin shooting and dribbling.
Derrick, despite his diminutive stature, showed promise. Similarly, his parents allowed him to devote more time to it because he enjoyed it.
He enrolled in Legend High School in Parker for his high institution education and was quickly allowed to play basketball for their team, even though it was a relatively young school. As he progressed successfully, White rapidly became popular among his colleagues.

Hannah Schneider, White’s long-term lover, is his wife. Hannah and Derrick had met in college and had been together all these years.
In September of 2020, the two became engaged and intended to marry soon after. Through his social media accounts, he showed his joy to his supporters.
The coronavirus pandemic, however, disrupted their original plans, and their wedding was postponed.

Basketball Career: Derrick White
A career in High School
Derrick White began his career at Legend High School in Colorado as a 5’6′′ freshman, which did not impress the team management at first.
Coach Kevin Boley, on the other hand, saw great potential in him and provided excellent guidance. As a result, White became extremely determined and began to improve his physicality and shot technique.
The Legends’ basketball team competed in the 3A level tournament at first because they were a beginner squad. Later, White guided them to the state’s highest tournament level, the 5A tournament.
Furthermore, as a senior, he expanded to almost six feet in height and averaged 17.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, he was unable to secure scholarship offers from any of the top universities after graduation.
Career in College
White was a low-ranking recruit in high school, so he had to settle for the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Newly hired head coach Jeff Culver, on the other hand, was confident in his abilities.

Indeed, it was Culver who provided him the opportunity to play for the UCCS Mountain Lions. Derrick experienced a growth spurt, and before the start of his first season, he had reached the height of 6 feet 4 inches, just as Culver had predicted.
As a result, he spent three collegiate seasons playing for the Lions in NCAA Division II competition.
Each year, he improved tremendously, and in his last college season, he was able to play for the University of Colorado Boulder’s team, the Colorado Buffaloes.

White was taken with the 29th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He was one of fifteen high school athletes not listed in Rivals.com’s top 150 prospects.
On July 6, 2017, Derrick signed with the Spurs. They later added him to the 2017 NBA Summer League roster as well.
After a few NBA regular-season games, the team assigned him to the NBA G League’s Austin Spurs. Unfortunately, he broke his wrist and missed a few games as a result.
He subsequently returned to the San Antonio Spurs and played in a few more regular-season games after his rehabilitation. Derrick had a disappointing rookie season, averaging 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Despite his dismal first-season performance, the club permitted him to play a large number of games in his second season. His performance was commendable, even though he had recently recovered from a foot injury.
He also played with the Spurs for three more seasons, and he continued to improve his game. In his final season with the Spurs, he averaged 14.4 points and 5.6 assists per game.
In 2021, the San Antonio Spurs announced a four-year contract extension for White, but on February 10, 2022, they moved him to the Boston Celtics.
