Colin Firth was born on September 10, 1960, in Grayshott, Hampshire, England to parents who were academics and teachers.
As a boy, his family moved frequently due to his parents’ occupations, and he lived in both Nigeria and St. Louis, Missouri, which he has described as a “tough time.” When Firth returned to England, he attended Montgomery of Alamein Secondary School.
Despite the academic achievements of his parents, Firth was not academically oriented and joined the National Youth Theatre before enrolling at Drama Centre London. At the age of 14, he had already determined he wanted to be an actor professionally.

After beginning his career on stage, Colin Firth expanded into television and film and became an international star and household name in Britain after starring as Mr. Darcy in the 1995 BBC adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice.”
