Police have provided additional information about the suspicious death investigation that caused the closure of a road in northern Westchester for several hours.
According to a press release issued by the Yorktown Police Department at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, the shooting that occurred on Tuesday, January 24 in the neighbourhood of 3270-3290 North Deerfield Ave. is being treated as a suicide by gunshot.

Numerous interviews, recordings, and physical evidence from the site were analysed to reach this conclusion. Authorities are waiting for a final determination on the cause of death from the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Police have stated that they will not release the identity of the deceased out of respect for their family.
Residents of North Deerfield Avenue were commended for their patience and concern, and the Yorktown Police Department expressed gratitude to the several Westchester County police departments that assisted with the investigation.

For several hours, drivers were delayed due to the investigation and police presence. In addition, officials have stated that there is no imminent threat to locals.
