The man who police say was seen on a viral video throwing a puppy through a metal storefront fence in Westchester County has been apprehended.
Yonkers police said they have a misdemeanour case against Anthoin McPherson, 29, of Mount Vernon, for the alleged abuse of his 8-month-old canine, Maximus.

McPherson was taken into custody following the release of a video depicting the event, which took place in Yonkers’s 4th Precinct and was widely shared on social media.
In response to the video, police launched an investigation, and with the assistance of the SPCA of Westchester County’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit, they tracked down McPherson and Maximum within a few hours.
The investigation revealed more instances of abuse committed by McPherson against Maximus, including a belt beating that occurred in a building’s stairway. Police have posted a video of this incident and the original footage of McPherson throwing Maximus online.
McPherson was given bail and will be arraigned at a later time.
