Reports indicate that the stepfather of a 15-year-old boy who died on Monday afternoon in the Bronx is being interviewed by authorities.
At at 4:18 p.m. on January 23, police were called to the residence of Corde Scott, 15, and his stepfather, 28. The address was in the 1400 block of Doris Street, which is off Lyon Avenue in Parkchester.
Reportedly, the argument quickly got violent, with the stepfather putting his hands around Scott’s neck.
According to law enforcement, Scott was found motionless and unconscious at the home shortly afterward, prompting the dispatch of emergency services. At Jacobi Hospital, where he was brought by ambulance, doctors pronounced him dead.
Medical Examiners Are Conducting an Investigation
The cause of Scott’s death has not been confirmed, but authorities have said he suffered a neck injury. A trip was made with his remains to the Medical Examiner’s office so that an autopsy could be done.
The 45th Precinct responded to the incident and detained Scott’s stepfather for additional questioning.
WABC-TV reports that investigators are trying to determine if Scott had previously attacked his stepfather and if the 28-year-old man’s defensive actions played a role in Scott’s death. On Tuesday morning, police were unable to confirm or refute this report.
The stepfather is currently under investigation by police due to his history of violence and his incarceration in 2018 for shooting a man.
