A 25-year-old man from New Jersey walked 20 to 30 miles per day for 143 days across the country to raise money and awareness for homeless veterans.
Tommy Pasquale entered Venice Beach on Friday wearing his tenth pair of sneakers and leaped into the Pacific Ocean to commemorate the conclusion of his fundraising expedition.
Pasquale stated, “I walked all the way from New Jersey via Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona to sunny southern California.”
On September 19, he began his adventure at the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey. His objective was to raise awareness and funds for the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, as many of his relatives and friends are veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Pasquale stated, “I believe it’s a bit disgraceful that courageous men and women serve and protect this country and then return home without a place to lay their heads at night.”
Rosanna and Peter Pasquale were in Venice to honour their son’s mission. Peter exclaimed, “I am quite proud of my son.” “In this particular instance, he has exceeded our expectations as a human being and as a son.”
There were times when Pasqual wanted to give up, board a plane, and return home. Yet, he kept to his strategy.
“Have a fantasy? You must go for it “said Pasqual. He stated that he is prepared to return home, get a job, and sit at a desk for a while.
Pasquale raised almost $40,000 for the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans through GoFundMe donations.
