Why Did Catfish and The Bottlemen Break Up? Guitarist Johnny And Drummer Bob Hall Have Both Announced Their Departures from The Band!

There are now only two confirmed members of Catfish and the Bottlemen. Johnny “Bondy” Bond, the band’s guitarist, and Bob Hall, the group’s drummer, have both announced that they will be leaving the group.

Bond joined in 2014, and his playing may be heard on The Ride (2016) and The Balance (2019) by Catfish and the Bottlemen. From 2010 until just last year, Hall was a member of the Welsh band and contributed to every record they’ve released.

Bond stated on social media, “after considerable contemplation, I originally severed ways with the surviving band in March 2021.” To put it simply, “circumstances beyond my control” left me feeling that I had no choice but to go.

Bond further, saying, “I feel that both the professional and personal relationships had become utterly dysfunctional, and as well as behavior regularly re-occurring that I found to be unbearable, as a band, we were not working in ways with which I agreed.”

Performances as A Session

Bond stated that towards the middle of last year he played four performances as a session guitarist for Catfish and the Bottlemen, but that he has since lost touch with the group’s surviving members.

Although to the best of my knowledge, this has not occurred, he said, “I thought that the band would address the fans from an official and broader point of view about the loss of two long-term band members.” Here is Bond’s full statement.
