Natasha Lyonne, then a former child actor making her way through Manhattan in the late ’90s, didn’t rely solely on Film Forum to educate her about the movies. She found suitors at the historic Greenwich Village theatre.

American actress and producer Natasha Bianca Lyonne Braunstein (/lion/ lee-OHN; born April 4, 1979). In addition to co-creating, executive producing, writing, and directing the Netflix series Russian Doll (2019-present), for which she is best known for her portrayal of Nadia Vulvokov,

she is also well-known for her role as Nicky Nichols on Orange Is the New Black (2013-2019), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress. Three Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, have been bestowed upon Lyonne for her work in the latter category.

Early Life.

Lyonne, the daughter of Ivette Buchinger, was born there. Al Jaffee’s distant cousin, boxing promoter, race car racer, and radio host Aaron Braunstein. Both of Lyonne’s parents were from Orthodox Jewish households, therefore the actress was brought up in that tradition. Her Hungarian-Jewish parents fled the Holocaust and settled in Paris, where she was born.

Lyonne has made the dark joke that her family tree consists of “my father’s side, Flatbush, and my mother’s side, Auschwitz.”  Her great-grandmother Ella was one of several siblings. Lyonne says that the fact that she and her two sisters and two brothers all have blond hair and blue eyes is the only reason they made it.

In Los Angeles, Lyonne’s grandpa Morris Buchinger had a successful watch business. In Budapest, he worked in a leather factory during the war while pretending to be a non-Jewish civilian. The first eight years of Lyonne’s life were spent in Great Neck, New York.

Lyonne’s Career as A Child Model Began when She Was Signed by Ford Modeling Agency. Her First Acting Role Was as Opal on Pee-Playhouse Wee’s when She Was Just Six Years Old. She Has Since Appeared in The Films Heartburn, a Man Called Sarge, and Dennis the Menace.

Lyonne Replied, “I Didn’t Have the Best Parents,” when Asked About Her Decision to Begin Acting at An Early Age. They Aren’t Awful Individuals, in My Opinion. It’s Crazy to Put a Six-Year-Old Kid in Charge of A Business, Even if They’re Ready to Start a Family.

Lyonne Had a Rough Go of It with The Law in The Early 2000s, when She Was Arrested for Dui and Related Situations Involving Her Neighbours.  in 2005, After Receiving Numerous Complaints from Her Fellow Tenants, Actor Michael Rapaport Evicted Her.

Lyonne Checked Into the Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan in 2005 (under an Alias) with Hepatitis C, a Heart Infection, and A Collapsed Lung; She Was Also Receiving Methadone Therapy for Heroin Addiction at The Time.

Due to Her History of Legal Issues, a Warrant Was Issued for Her Arrest in January 2006. Her Lawyer Claimed She Needed to Leave Immediately Due to An Emergency but Provided No Further Information. Lyonne Entered a Rehab Facility for Substance Abuse Later that Year and Subsequently Made an Appearance in Court.

She Played Woody Allen’s On-Screen Daughter in Everyone Says I Love You at The Tender Age of Sixteen. After Deciding Not to Pursue a Career as A Filmmaker After Two Years of film school, Lyonne went on to star in films including Slums of Beverly Hills, American Pie, and But I’m a Cheerleader.

where she is credited with having developed her own curriculum at the Film Forum. After that, the actress’s drug use derailed her career until she got clean and started landing jobs on shows like Weeds and Portlandia before finally breaking out in Orange Is the New Black.
