The MTV Video Music Awards of 2022 have begun. Co-host LL Cool J greeted the audience after Jack Harlow opened the event with a stellar performance of his song “First Class,” which featured a surprise visit by Fergie. “Without a doubt, you have just stumbled across the year’s greatest music party. The Video Music Awards of 2022 on MTV. Do not be quiet; “Excitedly, he told the fans at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
“When I first performed on the VMAs stage, I’ll never forget it. We were, essentially, the ones who first shared hip-hop with the globe. Incredible as that was, tonight is your chance to show that this is the most animated and boisterous MTV audience ever.” Make some noise! Reiterating his previous statement, LL Cool J told the crowd. “We are leaving New Jersey immediately tonight! Aiming to have a good time?”
Who Is the Co-Host?
Just before leaving the stage, LL Cool J gave a shout-out to his co-hosts, Harlow and Nicki Minaj, calling them “two fantastic artists.” Nicki Minaj is being honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. LL Cool J summed up the evening by saying, “Anything can happen tonight.” The three individuals were charged with emcee duties earlier this month.
The superstars were reported to be using a “more innovative and unique approach” to typical hosting in a news release issued in advance of the event. Imagine the Academy Awards of 2022. (not the slap, the trio of hosts). Minaj is having a big night: she is co-hosting, getting the Vanguard Award, and competing for Best Hip Hop. In 1997, LL Cool J was given the distinction.

The Rock Group’s Original Members.
Harlow, who is up for seven awards this year, tied with Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X, will make his solo VMAs debut this year. Lizzo, BLACKPINK, Mneskin Anitta, J Balvin, Marshmello x Khalid, and Panic! at the Disco are just a few of the other artists scheduled to perform. The Red Hot Chili Peppers are scheduled to receive the Global Icon Award later that evening.
The rock group’s original members, Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and longstanding member John Frusciante, will all be performing. The eight-time Video Music Award winners’ performance will be their first at the ceremony in over twenty years. In 2000, the Red Hot Chili Peppers were honored with the Video Vanguard Award, their last public appearance. The band’s “Black Summer” (the lead single off their 12th studio album, Unlimited Love) is also up for Best Rock.
