Over the course of the week leading up to Valentine’s Day, thousands of Americans will get stimulus cheques ranging in value from $100 to $1,050.
Governments with large budget surpluses have begun giving tax rebates and other forms of financial aid to citizens in response to the burden that high inflation has placed on their budgets.
State of California Residents to Receive $1,050 in Aid
Since the fall, residents of the Golden State have been eligible for rebates ranging from $200 to $1,050. Income, filing status, and the number of dependents are all taken into account when calculating a taxpayer’s distribution.
Connecticut honors its employees who stayed on the job at the height of the pandemic with monetary bonuses. They cost from $200 to $1,000 and are paid for by the state’s Premium Pay initiative.
Rebates will be offered in Idaho, as they will be in California, until 2023. They are worth $300 for those filing as individuals and $600 for those filing as couples.
Maine citizens will get $450 in the form of winter checks thanks to the Emergency Energy Relief Plan, which Governor Janet Mills passed in January.
In February, states typically disburse stimulus funds.
Hawaii
Anyone living in Hawaii and making less than $100,000 in 2021 (or $200,000 if filing jointly) is eligible for a $300 tax rebate.
All individuals and couples with annual incomes over $100,000 and $200,000 respectively are eligible for a $100 incentive.
You can expect a physical check or direct transfer up to 10 weeks after the tax office accepts your return, whichever comes first, for those who filed their 2021 state tax return between July 31 and December 31 of 2022. The first round of direct deposits started going out at the end of August.
Massachusetts
Taxpayers can receive a refund equal to about 14% of the amount of state taxes they paid. If you filed your 2021 tax return by October 17 of the previous year, you were supposed to get your refund in December of that year.
Any returns postmarked after September 15, 2023, but before the due date, will be paid out in the following month.
A New Mexico
State residents can still get refunds of up to $1,000 if they file as a married couple or $500 if they file as singles. Tax returns for the year 2021 can be submitted for refunds until the end of May 2023.
Place: New Jersey
About 2 million New Jersey families are eligible for property tax refunds because of Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR).
Property tax rebates will be $1,500 for households with an annual income up to $150,000 and $1,000 for those with an annual income between $150,000 and $250,000.
Up to $150,000 in annual income qualifies a tenant for a $450 cash payment. All reimbursements must be received before May 2023.
