An Identification Has Been Made of the 20-year-old Man Who Was Shot and Killed by Police in Allentown

The suspected attacker who was shot and killed by police in Allentown over the weekend has been identified as a man from Coplay who was 20 years old. This information was released by the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

Near the intersection of Eighth and Maple streets in Center City, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Xavier Arnold opened fire on the officers who were pursuing him after an assault that occurred nearby.

Friday, February 10, according to news announcements issued by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office and the Allentown Police Department.

Arnold was hit by a return shot fired by an Allentown cop, according to the local police. Arnold was declared dead at 8:49 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

A law enforcement officer was struck by a projectile but was shielded by his vest from the impact.

The cops who were involved in this incident have been placed on administrative leave, and a comprehensive investigation is currently underway.
