A fatal wrong-way crash on the Belt Parkway claimed the lives of two motorists.
The incident occurred near exit 13 at approximately 1 a.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities.
According to their probe, the motorist went two exits in the wrong direction. In the end, he collided head-on with another motorist, killing them both.
Around 12:50 a.m., police say, 52-year-old Queens resident Winston Ramdeen drove a black Infiniti eastbound in the westbound lanes, on the wrong side of the road, sideswiping multiple vehicles before crashing head-on into a Nissan Sentra, killing both occupants.

At Brookdale Hospital, both the alleged wrong-way motorist and the 79-year-old man he struck were pronounced dead.
The deafening roar of shattering metal woke up the neighborhood late at night.
A resident of the area commented, “I’m not going to lie, I didn’t see it, the head-on accident, but just hearing it I knew it was crazy.”
The accident caused the westbound lanes to be closed for a long period of time.
Doris Lewis, a local of Brooklyn, said, “That’s a dangerous highway, it’s not the first time I’ve heard of instances because sometimes people are speeding, it’s really awful.”

How and why the SUV driver began going the wrong way, as well as whether or not he was impaired, remain mysteries that investigators are working to solve.
