A spokesperson for the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) stated that the shooting occurred on or near a Metrobus in the area of 14th Street and Fort Fort Stevens Drive at around 4:15 p.m.
Chief Robert Contee of the Metropolitan Police Department stated in a press conference on Wednesday evening that multiple passengers on a Metrobus had attacked a third passenger. After the argument spilled out onto the sidewalk and street, one of the combatants pulled a gun and began firing.
Two children, ages 6 and 9, were injured by gunfire, according to Contee. The shooting victims were a young boy and a girl who had just gotten off the bus. According to Contee, a third victim, a man, was discovered in a nearby apartment.
