TOMS RIVER, N.J. — On Wednesday, a 93-year-old man from Toms River lost control of his car and smashed through the front of the TD Bank on Route 9, police said.
One person was injured.
According to Toms River Police Department media relations specialist Jillian Messina, 93-year-old Anthony Marino was unharmed in a collision that occurred at 1 p.m.
According to witness testimony, Marino was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 9 when he suddenly accelerated, sending his car careening across the street and onto the property of the TD Bank located at 2338 Route 9.
The car then crashed through the front window and hit a support wire, a street sign, and a light post before coming to a stop in the lobby in front of the tellers’ desk.
Messina claimed one onlooker was hit by flying debris and received minor injuries.
To remind Marino of his irresponsible driving, a citation was issued to him.
