The N.J. Couple Accused of Shoplifting from Ulta in a Baby Stroller Allegedly Hit Additional Pennsylvania Establishments.

The pair from New Jersey accused of concealing thousands of dollars’ worth of items in a baby stroller at one Pennsylvania Ulta store may have hit more locations.

Pennsylvania State Police on Thursday announced the arrest of a 22-year-old man and 32-year-old woman, both from Newark, for stealing multiple fragrance bottles from a Lehigh Valley Ulta Beauty location at the Hamilton Crossings Mall in Lower Macungie Township. They were taken into custody at another Ulta in Berks County.

Since then, the same pair have been charged with a Feb. 17 theft at an Ulta in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, just outside Allentown, and in Spring Township, Berks County, according to state police and CrimewatchPA.com. The crimes allegedly followed the same pattern, concealing several thousands of dollars worth of items in a stroller.

The pair face multiple third-degree felony counts of retail theft.

Area Ulta stores have been hit by a rash of thefts in recent years. In one 2021 grab-and-go incident, five men stole $20,000 in items in 40 seconds from the Lower Macungie location. Two months later at the same store, a group made off with $3,000 worth of fragrances in garbage bags. The Hanover Township site was hit at least twice in 2022.

The Associated Press reported in late 2021 that a series of similar thefts was believed to be part of criminal networks that recruit people to steal merchandise in stores throughout the country and then sell it online.
