Ride London Ballot Announcement Date: Ride the New 2022 Route Through London Made It Easier than Ever to Visit!

After a two-year hiatus, RideLondon returned in 2022 with a new route for cyclists to explore. The 2012 London Olympics-inspired track was replaced by a flat route that carried riders from inner London to the Essex countryside and back, culminating with a spectacular finish on Tower Bridge.

Three distances (100, 60, and 30 miles) were available and I chose the 100-mile option like before.

As intimidating as it may sound to ride 100 miles in one sitting, it’s possible even if you haven’t done any systematic preparation for the distance. In my experience, long-distance rides require much less training than marathons. If you have a decent base of fitness and ride consistently (either to work or for longer pleasure rides), you should have no problem finishing the race unscathed.

The Target Audience.

People who want to complete 100 miles are the target audience for the new RideLondon route,

rather than those who want to smash personal records (although the course does lend itself to this, as I found with my quickest RideLondon ever — a completion time of 4hr 49min). On the weekend,

I learned that RideLondon was an excellent choice for anyone’s first-century ride because of a few additional factors. RideLondon uses a lottery system to allocate seats. The ballot for 2023 has not yet been announced, however, the election for 2022 was held in January.

The Way.

The New Ride London Course Makes the Distance More Attainable, but Not on The Surface. in Addition to The 3,623ft (1,104m) of Climbing, the Official Route Showed that It Was 2.3 Miles Longer than The Claimed 100 Miles. While There Were a Few Big Ascents, the Majority of The Height Was Due to The Course’s Undulating Terrain.

A Few Grumbles from The Cyclists Around Me Over the Mile-Long Incline (with an Average Gradient of 2.9 Percent) up Broadmead Road at Mile 87, but That Was Nothing Compared to Wimbledon Hill on The Old Course.
Pathways

Those in Favor of The New Route Preferred It. While Some Experienced Riders May Find This Disappointing, Having Wide Roads Ensures that You Can Safely Pull Over to The Side if You Do Need a Quick Rest. Roads and Dual Carriageways Over the Lovely Rural Lanes that You Can Encounter in Essex.
