Beginning on Wednesday, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits of over one million New York City families will begin to decline.
According to the organization No Kid Hungry, when a family’s monthly income is $95 or more, they may begin to experience a reduction in the benefits that they receive.
In the early stages of the epidemic, these benefits were distributed to families that qualified for them.

Even if there is no alternative to the SNAP benefits, the organization No Kid Hungry is pushing residents of New York to investigate other opportunities that may assist them in putting food on their tables.
They suggest contacting food pantries and banks in the area, as well as looking into additional benefits that the state of New York is now providing for its residents.

The 1st of March will mark the beginning of the month in which families who were previously eligible for the SNAP emergency allotment benefits will see a reduction in those benefits.
