The current Mega Millions prize is $1,100,000,000, the third-highest in the game’s history. Jackpocket, a third-party app, has compiled a list of the states with the most Mega Millions winners, and New York tops the list.
New York has won a total of 40 jackpots to far. California ranks second with 32 wins, while New Jersey ranks third with 22 jackpot wins. Despite New Yorkers having won the most Mega Millions jackpots, none of the top 10 largest prizes have been won by a New Yorker. All of this could change after the next drawing on January 10th.
