New Jersey’s First Legal Marijuana Club May Open in Atlantic City.

One of the first pot cafes in the Garden State might open in Atlantic City soon.

Site plans for a new 10,000-square-foot lounge called High Rollers Dispensary were approved by the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority at a meeting in February.

Customers will be able to purchase marijuana and then use the space to consume it, unlike at most existing dispensaries.

Some locals of Atlantic City have pointed out that the Claridge Hotel, where it will be held, was constructed in the late 1920s, during the height of Prohibition.

With the widespread use of marijuana, “things weren’t even crazier,” Jeffrey Korsak said. “It’s the most out-of-the-ordinary thing conceivable. Being so illegal, you’ve been locked up for it, and yet here you are, out on the streets, engaging in it.”
