On Wednesday, citizens gathered behind police barricades to protest Republican congressman George Santos and call for his resignation.
There were more than a dozen constituents who showed up at Congressman Santos’ district office in Douglaston. One of his employees, however, turned them away when they arrived, saying that Mr. Santos wouldn’t talk to “a crowd.”
The people of NY03 are exerting maximum pressure on their representatives. Residents’ voices have been heard, and they have taken to the streets in both New York City and Washington, DC, to demand that Mr. Santos resign as their Congressman.
In recent weeks, the movement’s attention has been focused on Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, whose vote might ultimately determine whether or not Mr. Santos remains in office.
Mr. Santos defeated the Democratic candidate, Robert Zimmerman, by a slim margin of 8 percent in the November 2022 election, which many considered an enormous upset.

Soon after his triumph, however, it was revealed that he had lied extensively during the campaign about many aspects of his identity and background.
It’s clear that Mr. McCarthy has no intention of personally removing Rep. Santos from office, but the House Ethics Committee is speeding up its investigations into his alleged wrongdoings. According to the Washington Post, as this inquiry progresses, things might get very heated for Mr. Santos.
It has come to light since Mr. Santos assumed office in January that he has been accused of signing bogus checks for puppies he purchased from Amish farmers in 2017. It seems the boss has questionable taste in pets.
Mr. Santos, 34, has admitted to exaggerating his credentials, but he is not resigning.
