Crime Surge in New York City Overnight Leaves Two Dead and Four Injured

Two men were killed; one was shot and afterward pronounced dead, while the other was stabbed to death.

Three men attacked a man, 35, with knives on Broadway and West 43rd Street at about 2:15 a.

m. on Saturday.

One suspect was described by NYPD as donning a beige hat, another as sporting dreadlocks, and the third as donning a white jacket. The victim was sent to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There have been no reported arrests.

After 9 o’clock that night, a 39-year-old woman was stabbed in the Bronx; she was brought to Lincoln Hospital, where her condition was listed as stable.

Tyrone Quick, a 45-year-old man, was also taken by police to the same hospital. At 1212 University Avenue, where Quick was found dead, he had been stabbed in the chest.

A 66-year-old man named Jose Ortiz, who lived on the third floor, was taken into custody by the police and charged with murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter, assault, and criminal possession of a firearm.
