NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — HARRISON. On Wednesday, a tractor-trailer rolled off an overpass on the Cross Westchester Expressway and landed in the westbound lanes of I-287 below. State Police are walking slowly along an off-ramp to investigate the cause of the accident.

A van follows close behind, parking just a few feet from where the trailer touched down.
It appears that the driver was able to use the brakes at the last possible moment. The two of them were sent to the emergency room.
State Police have stated that it is too soon to determine whether or not speed played a role in the collision.
Preliminary investigation by police has shown that the truck driver lost control and flipped over the railing onto the westbound lanes of I-287 at roughly 10:20 a.m. on the Exit 9A ramp from I-287, commonly known as the Cross Westchester Expressway, to I-684 north.
Exiting the Expressway onto I-684 involves a little leftward curve. The posted speed limit is 40 miles per hour.

Police have closed the left eastbound lane of the Expressway at Exit 9 and all westbound lanes. Some detours may be in effect.
