A New York City Dollar Tree Employee Was Shot During an Alleged Robbery Attempt, Police Said.

An employee at a Manhattan cigarette store was apparently wounded in the back during an attempted robbery, and now police say that a would-be burglar has opened fire on a worker at a Dollar Tree in Brooklyn.

Around 8:40 p.m. on Van Sinderen Avenue, next to New Lots Avenue, in East New York, a male employee was shot once in the left leg inside the store. The announcement was made on Wednesday, sources said.

His injuries were not life-threatening, so he was sent to the emergency room at Brookdale University Hospital.
